Often, but not always. Online you pay the medicine price, delivery and your vet’s written prescription fee (typically £27). For a long course, or a medicine your pet takes every month, the saving usually outweighs the fee; for a short course it may not. Ask your practice for its price, then use our medicine savings calculator to compare.
Under the CMA’s new rules, written prescription fees will be capped at £21.40 for the first medicine and £12.70 for each extra one: from 23 March 2027 at large groups and 23 September 2027 at smaller practices.
